This is not what I expected, very dark photos with black back and cheap printer quality paper...but when I thought about it I said, Hey, I paid $5.99 for this book, chill." Yeah, you pretty much get what you pay for in life. So, once I got over the quality I decided to color at least 2 pages before I wrote a review and if nothing else, I could use this book to improve my artistry. To my surprise, after I relaxed my indignant attitude, I enjoy coloring the pages and I believe they turned out well. I have attached 2 pictures. I have been doing this for 5 months now and I am still learning and getting better. I like to place my work in a ring binder with page protectors and in between card stock; for these I will need several pieces of card stock to support them but I am not ashamed to show the work and I get joy out of looking at it just as if it were a Nicole Stocker grayscale (her book was my first grayscale and I was hooked and spoiled by her quality and understanding of grayscale). I will do a Pros and Cons in evaluating this book: PROS: (1) Beautiful Pictures (2) Less Background (3) Emphasis on the Flowers up front (4) Cost is reasonable for the quality; the book cost me $5.99 - I would not pay $6 for it! CONS: (1) Very cheap quality paper, as such it has no "tooth" and your medium sits on top. Therefore you will have to be good at blending (for the Sunflower I used water color pencils and blended with water and brushes; the Pot of Flowers page I blended with mainly baby oil). If you try to blend with your pencils or crayons...you will waste your color and still get an inferior product and if you do not blend on these pages your work will look like a 4th grader's; you must find a medium that will bring your work together and fill-in the white spots with this book! (2) Most of the book is too dark but workable, however there are about 5-7 pages that I will not even try to color because it would be a waste of my time and resources. I have been very forth-right in my opinion about this book. I wish more grayscale photographers/designers...would show their work on YouTube; hopefully as grayscale grows in the adult coloring book market we will get better book designers...
